Torrisdale is a spectacle of rich, autumnal colours at the moment and it’s like living in glorious Technicolor(tm). I have been away with the kids for a few days and the trees had changed so much in my absence, it was almost an assault on my senses, but in the best possible way. It is a visually stunning time of year and also slightly less hectic as bookings start to ease. Weekend breaks are still proving popular though, especially for Garden Cottage and the Servants’ Quarters. It’s no coincidence that these are the two properties with wood-fueled hot tubs.
We have had such good feedback and comments all season this year so it was really devastating to receive our first bad review from a couple who stayed in the Servants’ Quarters. Interestingly, their gripes weren’t with the accommodation which they described as luxurious, but with the hot tub which they suggested should be chopped up into kindling and used to fuel the sauna! They couldn’t get to grips with lighting it and when it was up and running, they found it too hot. We perhaps need to be more explicit with our instructions but Niall and Pete are always on hand to help out. Sadly this couple didn’t come and tell us their issues so we couldn’t do much to help. They didn’t enjoy the area either which was a real shame. When you love a place as much as we do, you want everyone to experience the joy of it. The big lesson from this is that you can’t please everyone and we take huge comfort that the vast majority of our guests feel the same way about Torrisdale as we do.
