Blue sky and a perfect summery day yesterday, good to be working in a t-shirt again without a cloud in the sky. The walled garden is the perfect sun trap and even though the midges made an appearance they’re not quite biting yet. Unfortunately the sun didn’t last and the rain’s returned with a vengeance, reminding us this is Scotland not Spain… The orchard is coming along nicely, with help from our wwoof team and also Duncan Murchie who popped down to lend us a hand and some tools (thanks!). Fifty dessert apples in the ground and happily flowering as they trail up the sheltered https://winters.com/accutane/ south facing wall.
Elsewhere on the Estate, the biomass boiler was commissioned on the 25th of April and is now all ready to heat up the castle, arch and tannery. Just in time for Niall, Emma, Zoe and India’s move into the castle!
The home for our wwoofer, Veronique for the next two months will soon be sited in front of Glen House. Pete’s built a level platform next to the bothy, raised up and close enough to be easily plumbed into the water, mains and septic tank. Veronique will have some clucky neighbours but very easy access to eggs for breakfast!
